OUR VISION & GOAL

Founded in 2007, Austin Children’s Academy (ACA), is a Montessori School incorporating the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, a philosophy that is widely recognized as exemplifying excellence in early childhood development and education for children ages 18 months to 6 years old. ACA’s mission is to provide a comprehensive educational program based on the Montessori Method while incorporating a 21st century outlook to prepare students to live in today’s technologically advanced world and to promote each child’s natural curiosity for learning.

ACA’s classrooms provide a comforting environment in which children grow with knowledge and confidence. Students experience a well-defined miniature society within the classroom where they work and learn together in harmony while retaining their individuality. With the teachers’ support and direction, children become responsible for their own behavior and contribute to the community by observing rules necessary for peaceful living. The resulting environment enables them to become secure, happy, and inspired to exercise their natural curiosity. They become learners with the self-confidence to solve problems creatively. Self-respect, respect for others, and respect for work are integral parts of the learning experience.

Students at ACA develop fundamental skills that will form the basis of a successful academic career. The curriculum accommodates all children’s progress and strengths, challenging them all and offering flexibility to support different learning styles. The core curriculum includes five distict areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies (Geography,History, Science Music and Art). The prepared enviroment and areas of the Montessori classroom allows children to progress at their own pace to meet their developmental needs.

ACA offers toddler programs for children 18 months to 2½, a creative intermediate primary curriculum for children ages 2½ to 3, and primary programs including Pre-K to Kindergarten for children ages 3 to 6 years. The Montessori Method encourages mixing the age groups, incorporating individual and group instruction and providing diverse cultural studies that enable students to learn about celebrations and customs from around the world. The multi-aged grouping provides opportunities for peer teaching, sharing and natural social development.

Success is measured by evaluations of student performance, the results of parent-teacher conferences, and regular progress reports. ACA encourages parental input with regularly scheduled conferences, parent evenings, and participation in our Parent Advisory Committee. We hope you and your child will join us in opening doors to the world of knowledge.
